How should I care for my ring?

As a proud owner of a fine ring by Balfour, some simple care and a few precautions will ensure your long-term enjoyment of your ring. The natural qualities of gold and silver allow them to tarnish. However, you can remove tarnish easily with any good silver polish. After applying the polish with a soft cloth, clean your ring in a mild soapy solution. Then rinse the ring in clear water and dry. Chemicals can discolor your ring. Some, like mercury, chlorine or household chemicals, can cause permanent damage. Your ring can also be damaged in any form of heavy manual labor. To protect your ring, remove it whenever doing heavy work, whenever exposed to chemicals, while working on or near heavy machinery, or when working with power tools. Since temperature and exercise affect finger size, wear your ring for at least two weeks before considering any size adjustment.

How can I find my ring size?

Please download and print the ring sizer form: Click here for Ring Sizer

Or contact your local Balfour office at 951-547-4319 to request a ring sizer.

Can I have my ring resized?

Your ring was made to your specifications, for daily wear. Changes in weather and physical activity affect your finger size, so wear it for a while before considering any changes in ring size. If you still feel you require a different size, we will be happy to resize your ring.

What is the Warranty?

Is 10K gold more durable than 14K or 18K, and what do most people order?

Gold’s rich glowing color and malleability make it the most favored precious metal for fine jewelry in the world. While 24K is pure it is too soft for everyday use, 18K is 75% pure and is the European standard. In the US, 14K (58% pure) is the most popular choice. However, 10K (42% pure) is an affordable and beautiful alternative. 10K gold is the lowest concentration of gold that can be trademarked in the US. White gold is the same quality of 10K, 14K, or 18K yellow gold, however, the material color is white.

Announcements

When should my personalized announcements be sent?

Announcements should be sent via first class mail two weeks before to two weeks after the event. Remember announcements are intended to tell the news of graduation. Many schools limit the number of guests the student can invite to the commencement.

How should the announcements be addressed?

Outer Envelope (Mailing envelope)

Legibly write the address by hand in black ink.

Use full names and formal titles. Do not abbreviate except for Mr., Mrs., Dr., Ms.

Do not use symbols (for example, do not use the “&” symbol)

Use figures only for house numbers and zip codes (for example, 273 West Sixth Street).

Write out the words “Street, Boulevard, Avenue, Trail, Circle, Drive”, etc.

Inner Envelope (contains the announcement)

The inner envelope can be addressed informally. Use the same tone you would in conversation (for example, Grandfather, Jennifer Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Jean and Ed).

Children’s names are included only on the inner envelope. (for example, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Nicole and Matthew).

How should the invitations be assembled?

Place the announcement inside the smaller inner envelope with the fold inserted first and the announcement cover facing the envelope flap. Do not seal or tuck the flap inside the envelope. Insert the smaller inner envelope into the larger outer envelope with the wording of the smaller envelope facing you.

Why are my announcements delivered Flat/Unfolded?

To preserve the integrity of the paper in shipping, announcements products are shipped flat and the customer is required to fold them. Instructions to do so are included.
